CREATIVE PROCESS
For Commissions

RESEARCH
This is my opportunity to fully research your project, create mood boards and collect references. I usually ask a lot of questions throughout the entire project, but here especially. At this beginning I also take 50% of the commission price to secure your project in my calendar and begin work.
01

SKETCH PHASE
This will be rough and is mainly to determine placements for and the start of style choices. We must make important decisions here and regular updates and revisions will happen at this stage. This stage will contain the most communication, silly questions and trials of design ideas, it also usually takes the longest.
02
SIGN OFF 1
At the end of the sketch stage I require a sign off on the sketch. It is vital that you carefully assess at this point as major revisions to layout or style cannot happen after this point. I also require a list of place names here (spellchecked by you) for any titles or places for the entire map.
03

LINE ART & COLOUR
After the sketch has been signed off I will create the final line work for the map. This will require another minor sign off before colour. The colour stage then begins which consists of base colours, final colours and texture applications.
04

SIGN OFF
The final sign off marks completion of the map. Minor revisions can still be made but too many or too major will incur extra cost and time. This final review will be given under watermark which will be removed with the final sign off and completion of payment.
TERMS & CONDITIONS

MAJOR REVISIONS
Up to 2 major revisions will be accepted to the project and must be requested at any stage before the first sign off. These revisions include changes to layout, shape, image size or design choices. After this time revisions will be charged at an hourly rate. If in doubt, just ask!
01
MINOR REVISIONS
Minor revisions are allowed any time in the project but will not be accepted after the final sign off without further costs incurred. Minor revisions are allowed, within reason and good cause, the artist will discuss if these are becoming too numerous and the project needs to be halted for further discussions on the direction.
02
TERMS OF USE
All artwork belongs to the artist
and can be used as portfolio or promotional business pieces. The artist must be credited for all artworks under ‘Cooper illustrations’. The artworks must not be re-worked, changed, replicated or tampered with without express written permission from the artist. Any custom preferences to this will be outlined in a contract.
03
Deposit
50% of the total of the commission will be taken before works begin. This is a non-refundable deposit.
